ESPERANZA EDUCATION PROJECT
Esperanza Education Project is a not for profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships and educational services to impoverished indigenous children in Peru. It was started in 2006 by six photographers on a volunteer trip to Cusco and Cai Cay in the Andes Mountains of southern Peru.

The indigenous children in these areas are profoundly poor and often neglected by parents that suffer from the alcoholism that torments so many who live there. Most families survive on subsistence farming and odd jobs.

We focus on providing scholarships to motivated and talented children of the region. “Esperanza” means “hope,” and with the help Esperanza Education Project provides, children who would otherwise be condemned to a life in poverty, suddenly have hope for a much brighter future.

We seek donations of any size to continue to provide this hope to these children and change their lives. All who work for the Project do so on an entirely voluntary basis, and the funds we distribute go directly to the children or programs we support. Thus you can feel proud to know that your donations really are making a difference, a profound difference, in the lives of these children.

It takes surprisingly little money to elevate them with education. The cost of sending each child to school is only $150 per month, which includes tuition, books and supplies, and most room and board expenses. Thus for less than $5,000, a child receives a degree which will allow them to lift their standards of living far higher than most could even dream.
